TWO KINDS OF SUNSCREEN
Sunscreens come in two basic formulations. One contains chemical compounds as the active ingredients and the other contains natural organic compounds. The two work very differently.
SUNBLOCZ VS. SUNSCREENS
The major difference between Sunblocz and chemical sunscreens is that Sunblocz is mineral based and sits on the surface of the skin. The active ingredient is zinc oxide that reflects the rays of the sun like a mirror. Most Sunscreens are generally chemical based and must be absorbed into the skin to be effective via a chemical reaction with the UV rays. Instead of the numbers going down, skin cancer has gone up 92% since the sunscreen industry incorporated absorbing chemical compounds into sunscreens.
Sunblocz incorporates natural zinc oxide (non-nano) in its formulation, the sun’s rays will never impact the skin cells and there is no concentrated or residue radiation in the zinc molecules to ‘fry’ or radiate the skin, as in chemical ‘absorbers.’ Zinc Oxide is also the only compound that covers the spectrum of rays from 260nM to 400nM, which includes most of the UVC range, and the entire UVB, UVA 2 and UVA 1 spectrum.
INGREDIENTS TO LOOK OUT FOR
OXYBENZONE: Half of the beach and sport sunscreens contain oxybenzone, an active ingredient in sunscreens. It penetrates the skin, gets into the bloodstream and acts like estrogen in the body. It can trigger allergic skin reactions.
HOMOSALATE: Homosalate is a common sunscreen ingredient. Research indicates it is a weak hormone disruptor, and sunlight breaks down the chemical into harmful by-products.
OCTINOXATE: This common sunscreen ingredient is shown to have hormone-mimicking effects on laboratory animals.
RETINYL PALMITATE: On sun-exposed skin, retinyl palmitate may speed development of skin tumors and lesions, according to government studies.
